What Happens After the Shoot: Editing and Delivery Explained

What happens between the shoot and the final delivered images is often the part clients ask about least — and understand least. Here’s a straightforward look at the process.

Selection

Every session produces far more frames than get delivered. The first step is a culling pass — removing duplicates, blinks, and technically weaker shots — down to the strongest set.

Editing

Selected images go through colour correction, exposure balancing, and retouching where needed, kept consistent across the full set so a delivered gallery reads as one cohesive body of work rather than a mix of different treatments.

Delivery

Turnaround depends on the size and type of the shoot — a single portrait session is quicker to turn around than a full-day event or a multi-room hospitality shoot. For time-sensitive needs (press, same-day social media), a smaller highlights selection can usually be delivered faster than the full edited gallery.
